Mystery Piece Project

In our computer class we just recently  were able to take the side off of a P.C tower and look inside at it’s contents. I was able to identify several of the parts like the BIOS, motherboard, fan & RAM. However luckily for me I had a smart friend who is more familiar

with computer parts to help me. Later we were given a piece of electronic equipment that we are asked to identify and describe. I figured out that its’s a Graphics Tablet. A graphics tablet  is a computer input device that enables a user to hand-draw images, animations and graphics, with a special pen-like stylus, similar to the way a person draws images with a pencil and paper. These tablets may also be used to capture data or handwritten signatures. It can also be used to trace an image from a piece of paper which is taped or otherwise secured to the tablet surface.

Investigating the Center of Arts & Technology

 

This is just one of many courses at the center of arts and technology.

Today we had a presenter from the Center of Arts and Technology and we were asked to investigate in his school and see if any of the programs interested us. Unfortunately  there wasn’t many that I found interesting. However the Veterinary Hospital Assistant course seemed like something I could see myself doing. I have always had a love for animals and I think it would be great to help animals and their owners.

Another course that interests me is the 3D Animation

This is an example of a student’s character animation, which became the schools unofficial mascot

(Game,Film & Visual Effects) course. Here I would be able to learn things like character animation and character modeling. Iv’e said before that special effects in movies had always fascinated me and grabbed my attention. So if I would take this course I would like to learn about special effects so I could specialize in them one day.

 

 

Understanding Video Production

Video production is the process of creating video by capturing moving images and creating combinations and reductions of parts of this video in live production and post-production. In most cases the captured video will be recorded on electronic media such as video tape, hard disk or solid state storage, but it might only be distributed electronically without being recorded.

In this course I would like to learn about what video producers do to make movies and

Hopefully i will be able to learn how to make effects like this.

T.V.shows. For example, I would like to use a green screen and learn how they are used to make backgrounds and movie scenes. I would also like to learn about stop-motion animation to make Lego videos for my brother.  Finally, I would really like to learn about special effects, like the ones in the X-Men movie.  I’m very interested in special effects because they make a movie more exciting and gives a movie a supernatural feeling, which in my opinion is a great genre of movie.

 

In 1927 the concept of Phonovision was invented. It was the earliest video format and was developed by Cairns and Morrison  Ltd.   In 1964 the Sony EV Format Clp-1B was the first portable video recording device  and was used a lot in industry and education. In 1973 the Capacitance Electronic Disc was the first machine to store film on a disc instead of film rolls. Finally, in 1995 the DVD was invented. It was based off the laser disc but it offered more storage space.

most famous for creating the happiest place on earth. Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Hermosa, Illinois. He and his brother Roy co-founded Walt Disney Productions, which became one of the best-known motion picture production companies in the world. Disney was an innovative animator and created the cartoon character Mickey Mouse. He won 22 Academy Awards during his lifetime and was the founder of theme parks Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

 

There are several jobs in video production, such as:  videographers, film & video editors, and finally video producer and director. Requirements to obtain a career in video production are a university degree or college diploma in the performing arts, broadcasting, journalism, business administration, theatre production or film studies. As many movies and T.V. shows are filmed and produced in B.C. there are opportunities in B.C. for a career in video production.  In Vancouver and Surrey there are video editing businesses and other facilities that involve video production.

I think the future of video production is going strong and will continue to do so for a very long time.  One area of video production that has deteriorated is the making and selling of DVD’s.  People are downloading videos onto their computer or streaming them through a device onto their T.V.  For example, in the past few years stores like Blockbuster are going out of business.  However, this is no issue for video producers because they will continue to make movies as long as there are actors and people to watch their movies.

 

 

The Impacts of Technology

Technology is rapidly changing around us, but for better or for worse is the question that people are beginning to ask themselves. The advances in robotics will pose a threat for the average working person. For example, automated vehicles will dramatically affect the lives of taxi drivers and cargo truckers because with robots behind the wheel they no longer will be needed. However, in my opinion I think the solution for this problem is a simple one: the employers would have to give the jobs of robot engineers and manufacturers to the taxi and truck drivers who lost their jobs to machines.

Beings like Ultron, no matter how cool or interesting they are only fiction and can only be seen in movies and books.

Another issue that people may become concerned about is that of machines becoming self aware and rising up to overthrow their creators.  This idea is completely absurd and is only seen in movies like Terminator and Avengers Age of Ultron “I will start worrying about this the day my computer becomes aware of my printer” says Andrew McAfee, co-director of the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy and the Associate Director of the Centre for Digital Business at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
